I dig a patio

Well, Debbie, David, Sam, Candy, and I have
been working hard all summer on the ever expanding
dream of having a patio behind the house in Lapel.

As DIY projects often go, it started as a modest idea,
but the more we read, saw on the Home networks, and heard
from people who actually had a bit of wisdom of such things,
(thanks David!!), we decided to do this the right way.

The "right way" ended up including over 6 tons of crushed
gravel, known as "The Dusty 12" in the industry, or at least
at the gravel pit near Lapel.  We also used a couple tons of
Sand, and at last count,  nearly 130  16x16  paver stones.

The patio is nearing completion, and is anxious to host and
toast future family gatherings

Heck, we could almost have a wedding there….

  1. And I think that’s just what you’re planning to do, right? Looks like my back yard right now, with forms up for the concrete pad for the hottub, steps out the back door, and a brick walkway to tie it into the patio. Thankfully, we decided we had to pay someone to do this or it would never get done, or I would flunk out of grad school, or our wedding wouldn’t get planned, or something like that! I do at last have pics hung in the new house though. Don’t you love the dreaming, planning, and enjoying the fruits of your labor?

  2. I’m just wondering why I get NO mention whatsoever in this project. I was the foreman for 2 whole days; the following week, I put blood, sweat and and tears into this project…ok, just sweat, but, still, I was the water-girl for 3 hours last Friday. Plus, I did carry several of those patio slabs and volunteered the energy of my husband to carry a few more!
I don’t see my picture up there.

  3. Autumn, maybe Jay forgot you because he didn’t have you in any of his pictures. :) We appreciate your work too!

  4. Autumn always likes to think of herself as a foreman - rofl….and I also like how she ‘volunteers’ Evan…another great Autumn trait!! hahaha
Although if I had been there I would have made a better foreman! I crack me up!
